I. Introduction (Psalm 33:8,9)
“Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.”
A. When I got saved over 40 years ago, this Book took over my life!
B. It had a power unlike anything I had ever studied or learned about in school
- I began to read about how it worked in days gone by with great revivals, and great awakenings that saved entire nations from ruin! Including England and America
- I believe with all my heart, that England and America owe their very existence today, not to powerful weaponry, or politics, but to the strong preaching of the Bible to the people!
C. This Book has untapped power that this world needs badly
- That Christians today desperately need
- It has been sitting idle in your house all these years, and you have not let it loose
D. I am here to tell you it does great good
- To anyone who has the right kind of heart for it
- And as I will show you next week, this Book will ruin anyone whose heart is hard!
II. Preliminaries
A. This Book Is the Word of God
1. I Believe It!
- I don’t say this flippantly, or ignorantly
- I am not like the faker and fraud priests and pastors in so many modern churches that read from the Bible but don’t believe half of it!
- If I didn’t believe it is the word of God:
- I wouldn’t be a Christian
- I wouldn’t be in church
- I would just live any way I wanted, because then, nothing matters at all!
2. And I Believe It Because of Three Reasons:
a. The Bible Claims to be the Word of God
- 421 times, the Bible reads, “Thus saith the LORD…”
- Deuteronomy 11:18,19 - “Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart…”
- 2 Peter 1:21 - “Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost”
- Matthew 4:4 - “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God”
- Matthew 24:35 - “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away”
b. THIS Book has proven itself to be God’s words on every page
- Over 300 spot-on prophecies - all well researched and undeniable
- Over 1500 major Archaeological facts that back up the people and places from Genesis to Revelation
- Over 2500 Historical facts confirm events as written in the Bible
- When the Bible speaks about science, it has been proven to be absolutely true
c. I have personally found it true
- I found this Book to be the word of God!
- No one ever spoke like this Book speaks to my heart
- I found this Book to be true when I prayed and asked God to forgive me like the Gospel commanded over 40 years ago!
- I find this Book to be true still to this day
B. This Book Has Power
1. When we think of ‘power’…
- We think of electrical power
- Nuclear power
- Wind power, solar power
- Government power
2. But, Did you know that Words have power?
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” (Proverbs 18:21)
3. And GOD’S words have ultimate power
- Power to create
- Power to destroy
- Power to save
- Power to transform
III. The Power of God’s Word Demonstrated
A. In Creation
- God spoke and it was done
- He commanded and it stood fast
- Words brought worlds into existence
B. In Salvation
- The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16)
- Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17)
C. In Transformation
- Lives changed
- Families restored
- Nations revived
Conclusion
Don’t underestimate this Book. It has power you haven’t begun to tap into. Let it loose in your life!
