I. Introduction (John 8:10-11)
“Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”
A. Jesus has just freed an adulteress
- The event was staged to trap Jesus
- Nothing genuine in their question - the man was conveniently absent
- But she was undeniably guilty
B. Within 5 minutes, Jesus does the impossible
- Removes all her accusers
- Refuses to condemn her Himself
- Pardons her and says she is free
- Encourages her to sin no more
C. It All Occurred Because of Jesus!
- Not because she could stop sinning
- Not because of her great faith
- But because she and Jesus crossed paths
D. Jesus extends an invitation to keep following Him (John 8:31,32)
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
II. The Call to Continue (John 8:31)
A. “If Ye Continue”
- Not just start
- Not just dabble
- But stay in it
B. “In My Word”
- Not just any word
- Jesus’ words specifically
- The Scriptures He affirmed
C. “Then Are Ye My Disciples Indeed”
- Real disciples continue
- Not just in name
- But in reality
III. The Promise (John 8:32)
A. “Ye Shall Know the Truth”
- Not just hear it
- Not just believe it
- But KNOW it personally
B. “And the Truth Shall Make You Free”
- Freedom from sin’s penalty (salvation)
- Freedom from sin’s power (sanctification)
- Freedom from sin’s presence (glorification)
IV. What Does It Mean to Continue?
A. Daily Reading
- Not sporadic
- Consistent
- Habitual
B. Deep Study
- Not just surface reading
- Mining for treasures
- Understanding more
C. Practical Application
- Doing what it says
- Living it out
- Obeying its commands
D. Lifelong Commitment
- Not for a season
- But for a lifetime
- Until we see Him face to face

Jesus saved you to set you free. Continue in His Word and experience that freedom more and more every day.
