I. Introduction (Deuteronomy 30:19)
A. Not everything in life is simple
B. But sometimes, God makes things very simple
C. God says in Deuteronomy 30:19
“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.”
D. Especially in the area of the choice Ireland is facing
E. This morning, with much grief, I want to preach and teach you again about the value of the life of the unborn child
- I say AGAIN because we should not even be having this debate AGAIN. Ireland does NOT need nor want another referendum on abortion. And even if it did, it is still wrong to try and legislate the termination of any innocent life in the protective womb of its mother!
- I say GRIEF, because a culture of death has permeated just about every corner of society
II. What the Bible Says About Life
A. Life begins at conception
B. God knows us before we are born (Jeremiah 1:5)
C. The unborn are persons in God’s eyes (Luke 1:41-44)
D. God hates the shedding of innocent blood (Proverbs 6:16-17)
III. Why We Must Choose Life
A. Because all life is sacred
B. Because God is the author of life
C. Because every person has value
D. Because there are better options
IV. How to Choose Life
A. Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves
B. Support mothers in crisis
C. Vote according to biblical values
D. Pray for our nation
V. Conclusion
A. God calls us to choose life
B. The decision is clear from Scripture
C. May we have the courage to stand for life
