The Missionary

You need the following things to be a missionary:
  1. Salvation
  2. Calling - specific calling from the Lord that your pastor and other people in your church can attest to as being valid in your life (Acts 13)
  3. Training - lots of it, first in your local church, and then in some Bible College - forget seminary
  4. Experience - get lost and lots of experience teaching, and preaching and raising your family
  5. Assurance - know where you are called, and know exactly WHAT you are called to do (most missionaries barely know where they are called)
  6. Deputation - get several dozen churches behind you in prayer and support
  7. Commitment - set out for the field, determined that you are not coming home, except for furlough, or in a coffin!
