What Changes Occur when Jesus is in Your Life?

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new

2Corinthians 5:17

Jesus Himself in You. Salvation is not a religion at all – it is a Person, the Lord Jesus, being allowed to come into your heart, and lead your life in a completely new direction. The moment a person repents and gets saved, Jesus moves in and starts changing you for the better. “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20).

Forgiveness by God. The greatest benefit that any human being could receive from a relationship with Jesus Christ, is the forgiveness only He can bring. It is a gift, paid for at His own expense, and once received, is complete. Without it, life is only hell on earth, because we are attempting to live without God and without His Son! But with forgiveness comes everything that is good and perfect and eternal, including eternal life! “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34)

Peace with God. A by-product of God’s forgiveness is peace with God. To no longer be going against God, but now part of His family, and the recipient of His love makes for a very different kind of living that you don’t have to wait for heaven to enjoy! “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1).

Cleansing from Guilt. Guilt kills. So people turn to drink, to drugs and to thrill-seeking in order to try and drown-out the pain of what we have done wrong in our past. But Jesus takes all that away, and nails it to His cross, and washes us from all sin in His blood. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1)

No more Loneliness. Jesus promises “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5). He is with you and will always be there for you!

Freedom from Addictions. Jesus is mightier than all addictions (drugs, drink, anger, depression), so He can defeat every temptation you face! “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (John 8:36)

New Desires. With the coming of Jesus Christ into your heart, you will take on new desires for spiritual things and godly things. Your music tastes will be different, your entertainment desires will change, and your love for the word of God, and for other Christians will dramatically grow!

A New Purpose. You now live for the glory of God, and will find Him directing your life in a good direction, and He will always enable you for every step He asks you to take. “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

Finally, the Chastening Hand of God when you sin. God will not leave you alone about sins in your life, but will work on you until you make things right – all because you are His child, and because He loves you, and wants the best for you! “For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth” (Hebrews 12:6).
