Summary - Who was Noah? - Being an
upright man
I.
Who was Noah? (Gen
5:29)
A.
Let me introduce you to a
man named NOAH!
B.
His name
means, “Rest”
C.
He lived
a long, long, LONG time ago! About 4,500 years ago. He lived before the Pyramids
were built, or Newgrange, or even Stonehenge in
D.
He and
Mrs. Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth
(Ge 5:32)
and they each had wives.
E.
He loved his wife, and his
family
F.
But he loved God the most!
G.
He was
500 years old when God actually spoke to him (people lived very long back then)
H.
He was
well known by everybody in town. Everyone knew that old Noah was (Gen 6:9):
1.
A just
man
2.
“Perfect
in his generation,"
3.
And that
he "walked with God"
I.
It was very rare for
someone to be like Noah way back then!
J.
Everyone knew about God.
They all learned about Adam and Eve, and the Garden of Eden, and how Adam
disobeyed God and was driven out of that perfect Garden.
K.
They all knew about God’s
laws and how God wanted them to live.
L.
But almost no one cared.
No one but Noah.
M.
So, what
was so special about Noah and his family?
1.
He was a
just man – it means he was a good man. He was right with God – righteous, moral,
godly – that means Noah was:
a.
He was a
follower of God, obedient to God
b.
He didn’t
live in sin, but daily kept his heart and life washed from sin – he was not
sinless, just constantly cleansed and forgiven for every sin he ever did
c.
Noah did
not live full of shame and regret all his life either, because he lived a godly
life – he lived in obedience to God
2.
He was
“perfect in his generations”
a.
Noah put God first in his
life
b.
He made some decisions
back when he was 10 years old that kept him from doing all the sins that
everybody else was doing
c.
He decided that he was
going to follow God just like his parents did, and their parents
d.
His whole family were
believers in the God of the Bible
e.
He, like
his parents both feared and loved God, and kept himself pure from sins
f.
A lot of
people aren’t like that: they would rather do their own thing, and turn away
from their parents and from God.
g.
But not
Noah and his wife and his three sons and their wives!
3.
He walked
with God – the greatest thing about Noah!
a.
His
relationship with God was a walk – a constantly active thing
b.
He didn’t
just “go to church”
c.
He
worshipped God and talked with God and listened to God all the time!
d.
He was
moment by moment relying on God, talking with God, meditating upon the word of
God, drawing on God’s strength and wisdom
e.
He loved
to take walks so that he could talk to and listen to God
f.
I like to
do that too!
g.
Everyone
else would be busy playing, and watching games and being with their friends, but
Noah loved being with his family, and Noah loved being with God!
1)
He read
his Bible every day
2)
He
worshipped God every week. He loved all the Bible lessons
3)
He loved
learning about Adam and Eve, and about forgiveness, and about heaven
N.
That’s
why God made us! That’s why we were born – to know God, to love God, and to walk
with God through every day!
O.
Most
people FORGET about God. Don’t think he is very important to think about and
pray to and talk to and listen to.
P.
Do you
want to know how to walk with God like Noah did?

Read
God’s word – the Bible – everyday! God wrote it to talk to you with!
Do you have your own Bible? Maybe ask your Mommy or daddy to read with you

Talk to
God in prayer. Tell him how you feel, and thank Him for the good things every
day, and ask Him for help when it is a bad day!

church every Sunday and learn the Bible’s lessons – there are so many good,
exciting lessons to learn from the Bible – can you name some?

and Eve

Abraham
c.

f.
Like
young David and Goliath
g.
Oh there
are so many exciting Bible stories to learn at church!
4.
Obey God
– whatever He says to do! That’s why God liked Noah; because He could always
