The Gospel isn't as complicated as you might think! It is simply understanding three things, and then surrendering your self-righteousness, and your sinfulness into the nail-scarred hands of Jesus Christ:
"Brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures." (1Corinthians 15:1-4)
The Apostle Paul declares three things: 1) that
Jesus died for our sins - that means we deserve death, yet He took our place
- and He did it all according to the prophecy and requirements of Scripture. 2) That
Jesus was dead and buried for 3 whole days (He did not fake His agony, nor
His death on the cross). 3) That Jesus got back up out of the grave - all
according to what the Scriptures said would happen! He did it because:
"All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all." (Isaiah 53:6)
We are sinners. Lost, ruined, helpless, and hopeless. Our sins have separated us from God - we are ever unable to measure up to His perfection, so, His great love made a way to cover our sins - through the punishment of His Son in our place on the cross! Jesus died for sinners! Our hearts are deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked. If salvation would ever be available, it would have to be as a gift!
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8,9)
Forget all your best efforts, and religious works - they can never purchase the free gift of eternal life!
"The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
To go to a certain church believing that THEY can give you forgiveness of sins is to mock the Gospel, and reject what Jesus alone did on the cross for you! Cry out to Jesus in broken-hearted prayer, asking for forgiveness from your sinfulness, and accept HIM only as your Saviour and Lord!
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)
Do it now! You have no guarantee of tomorrow!
