Who lays in the manger,  Who rests there alone?

Is it some poor baby,  Whose name is unknown?

Does He have any future,  Could He be something more?

Could this baby be Someone, … We’re all … waiting for?

Yes He’s the great Saviour,  God’s Son from on high!

He was born oh so lowly, so that we would ask why?

With all of life’s struggles that cause us to cry…

But He came not to please us… He was born, He was born to die!

Who works with a hammer, in his father’s small shop?

Should He not be training for a place at the top?

How could this young carpenter’s son become more?

Could this boy be Someone, … We’re all … waiting for?

Yes He’s the great Saviour,  God’s Son from on high!

He lived oh so lowly, so that we would ask why?

In all of life’s problems our hearts only sigh…

But He came not to please us,… He was born, He was born to die!

Who is this who walks among harlots and thieves?

Who lives in the fields, yet with power He speaks?

Does He really bring healing, forgiveness and joy?

Then why do men hate Him… this Be-thlehem boy?

Yes He’s the great Saviour, God’s Son from on high!

He lived oh so lowly, so that we would ask why?

With all of life’s choices, and paths that we try…

He came not to please us, … He was born, He was born to die!

Who is this who’s hanging on Calvary’s cross,

Who cries “It is finished”, when all hope seems lost?

Is it there on the cross that I finally see…

That Jesus is Someone… who died … just for me?!

Yes He’s the great Saviour, God’s Son from on high!

He died oh so lowly, so that we would ask why?

With all of life’s questions, we cannot deny…

That He came not to please us, …
